An important component of Sacred Heart Villa’s charism is partnering with our families. We support the parents and families as the “First Teacher” by including them in their child’s learning journey while providing needed support along the way and opportunities to share some time with them in our school setting.
Donut Days with Parents on the First Friday of the month had been a tradition at The Villa prior to COVID. We have brought this tradition back! On Friday, September 2nd, on a beautiful summer morning, we offered donuts for our children and their parents as they arrived at school. The parents enjoyed a cup of coffee as well. It was a great chance for parents to connect with other families, especially our newcomers to The Villa. We are grateful to The Center for Family Law and the Viviano Family for sponsoring this month’s donut day. We hope for good weather on October 7th, the next first Friday.
Another tradition on the First Friday of the month is gathering for a prayer service in the playroom. We do this to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to remember His great love for us. Families are welcomed to join us for this as well. On September 2nd, the whole school and dozen family members gathered for this time of prayer led my Sr. Matthew Maria. This is the first time in many months we have gathered the whole school together for prayer. There was a beautiful spirit of awe among the younger classes as they saw older students on the stage leading the songs and prayers. We prayed for God to bless the work of our hands in all we do.
Next Friday, September 9th, families will be able to gather again when we celebrate our Fall Family Picnic Lunch. For the first time in two years, the whole school will participate at the same time, 11:30 A.M. Parents and grandparents are invited to pack a picnic lunch or take-out and sit on the lawn for lunch with their child(ren). Families can bring a blanket, or lawn chairs. We will spread out throughout the property while keeping the toddlers in their fenced in play area. It is another wonderful opportunity for families to connect to the school staff, and other families.
These special family events help to build the family spirit that has set Sacred Heart Villa apart from other programs for decades. Though circumstances for the past two years have kept us from gathering as a whole school, we remain a strong, loving, and caring community where the Love of Christ unites us all.
