We enter our last week of our summer session. It has been a sizzling month! In spite of the super hot days, the children have enjoyed themselves in many fun activities. They experimented with boats and floating objects, hid buried treasures and made maps, splashed at water stations, sang pirate songs, played a variety of group games like water relays, rode tricycles, jumped in the sprinklers at Berra Park and on our lawns, and created plenty of art activities. The week of July 18th will be devoted to art. We will focus on identifying colors, drawing (age appropriately), painting, working with clay /dough pottery, and learning about abstract art. (Isn’t most toddlers’ artwork abstract?) The children and staff have made some wonderful memories this summer.
We will celebrate the end of the summer session with a Dining with Donors event. A food truck from The Hacienda will be parked on Macklind Avenue on Friday, 7/22 from 4:00 – 5:30 PM. When you arrive at school and after you call the office to let them know you are here, place your order at the food truck as you wait for your child to be brought out to you. Their menu offers Taco Meal Kits which feed 4-5 people with your choice of either Ranchero Chicken or Carne Guisado. They also offer their house hand-made tamales and empanadas. You can pick up sides of extra salsa, guacamole, cheese, and their famous light and crispy tortilla chips. They will also be selling soft drinks and The Haceinda’s Maragritas in traveler’s pouches. A portion of the sales this evening will be donated back to Sacred Heart Villa. The food truck is open to anyone who wants to purchase not just the families currently attending The Villa’s summer session. Join us in supporting The Hacienda and Sacred Heart Villa while enjoying some delicious fresh Mexican food as we bid our friends “Adiós” for our three week summer break.
