The Hill Got Hunted

The Hill Got Hunted!

Under a beautiful blue sky of the early fall morning on Saturday, September 26th over 110 children and their families joined for Hunt the Hill. By 8:00 AM, families started arriving at the Villa to check in and receive their check list, a map of the Hill, a SHV pen and SHV little canvas tote bag. After enjoying a glazed donut, most of the families walked and a few rode their golf cart through a central portion of the Hill looking for designated spots on the list. When the spot was checked off, the family took a photo of themselves at this spot to prove they were there.

Along the way, we had some surprises for the children. Every store that was on our list offered the children treats. Both Missouri Baking Company & CafĂ© Dolce gave out chocolate chip cookies. Cheese and salami samples were prepared by Volpi’s, while Vitali’s Bakery gave out Italian knotted rolls and slices of seeded bread. DiGregorio’s handed out foiled covered chocolates. Wooden little clocks were given out under the clock at the corner of Edwards and Daggett. At Herbaria, the children received soap samples cut into various shapes. When they returned to the Villa to find the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the front yard, each child received a “goodie” bag with various small toy items. By the time the children left the Villa, their little canvas bags were full! We are so grateful for the generosity of so many businesses. Many of the families stepped into the shops to make purchases and to thank the owners.

Families that completed the scavenger hunt put their names into a drawing to win the experience of spending a morning on the Villa playground with their family on an agreed upon weekend date. A great time was had by all! Thank you to all the businesses for participating and donating the treats and items!
