Bringing Some Cheer and Love to Our Students

Bringing Some Cheer and Love to Our Students

In these last few weeks of school, teachers and aides have gone the extra mile to see their students’ smiling faces by making home visits.  They shared the love of the Heart of Jesus while keeping social distancing. The teachers would call the parents ahead of their arrival so the children were ready.  Some children were in awe to see their teachers in their front yards!  Each teacher reached out in unique ways. Ms. Troy organized our two-year old staff on the first of these with a parade past the homes and handed out balloons. Ms. Ashley, Ms. Annie & Ms. Margaret and several aides joined her, yet they did not let the soggy weather “bring a cloud on the parade.”  Ms. Maria, Ms. Mary Grace, Ms. Anna, Ms. Elaine, Ms. Christina and her family tossed out candy to eagerly awaiting Nursery One children. The Nursery One students dressed up as Super Heroes and princesses to welcome their teachers. Our Nursery Two team of Ms. Kristin, Ms. Patti and Ms. Nancy surprised the children with potted flowers, bubbles and a “flat Ms. Kristin” to take on adventures. The teachers in turn were surprised by the colorful signs the families had made to express their gratitude to these wonderful women. Sr. Christine, Ms. Ashley and Ms. Cindy delivered bright red star helium balloons and gift bags to PreK 1 children. The rainy day did not dampen their joy as they saw their happy students face to face.  PreK 2 students were glad to receive craft supplies and some projects completed earlier this year from Ms. Ellen and Ms. Stacy. Sr. Bridget, accompanied by Sr. Christine, visited the Kindergarten homes. They set up yard signs to congratulate our Villa graduates and remind them that they are loved. The soon-to-be graduates were excited to receive a graduation helium balloon and a framed picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The students and their families were very touched by the kindness of our staff.  It was great for the teachers to see the children’s and families’ smiling faces (even through masks).  The children all seem to have grown taller in these past eight weeks!  All our hearts have all grown fonder  - from a distance!
