Villa Celebrates Blessed Clelia's Birthday

The Sacred Heart Villa celebrated the birthday of Blessed Clelia Merloni, foundress of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, on Tuesday, March 10, with an original play written by teachers, Ms. Karen and Sister Bridget.  The play was performed by the Kindergarten students, under the direction of Sister Bridget, who also narrated.  Music was provided by Sister Alice on the guitar.  A special surprise touch was added at the end of the play, as all the students stood at the edge of the stage and shook the candles they made to expel confetti on the delighted audience.

The play told the story of Blessed Clelia from childhood through her life as a religious sister and foundress of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Her story was filled with hardship and tragedy, but she always maintained her faith in Jesus, and kept His commandments.  Often harshly treated, Blessed Clelia responded with love and kindness.  She is a true model for our time.

After the play, a large cake was wheeled onstage, and all sang Happy Birthday.  The cake was shared by the whole school during the lunch break.
