Villa Gets Sensory Walk

Volunteers from Maritz, Rebuilding Together St. Louis, and St. Joseph Academy joined forces on Friday, May 10 to add pizzazz to the back area of the play yard at Sacred Heart Villa.  Employees from Maritz partnered with Rebuilding Together in St. Louis to build a sensory walk along the back fence behind the playground equipment.  Ted Saunders, father of William in Kindergarten, spearheaded the move to obtain a grant from Maritz to get funding for the project.  Mr. Saunders is on the board of Rebuilding Together, and along with Rick Murphy, Project Director for Rebuilding Together helped make the sensory walk a reality.  The new addition will add to the students' enjoyment of the outdoors by providing different textures and sensations to inspire all sorts of learning.

In addition to the Maritz and Rebuilding Together Team, seniors from St. Joseph Academy, on a three week mission of service at the Villa, spray painted benches and spruced up existing equipment.
