May Crowning – A Time Honored Tradition at SHV

On Friday, May 10th the two PreK classes led the annual May Crowning - a beautiful prayer service in honor of the Blessed Mother. The ceremony was held in the playroom of the school making it easier for the other younger classes to watch and join in  praying a decade of the rosary and singing songs to Mary.  Many parents and grandparents joined us for the event, too. The front of the stage was decorated with a beautiful arch that was overflowing with fresh greens and cut flowers above the statue of Mary. Fr. Rick Stoltz, from St. Ambrose Church, decorated this lovely arch frame. One of the PreK girls who crowned the statue of Mary led an Act of Consecration to the Blessed Mother: “My Queen and my Mother, I love you and give myself to you. Since I am yours, keep me and guard me as your child forever. Bless all the children of the world.  Amen.” We trust that Mary our Mother heard these children's prayers to be guarded and protected by her as well as all the chidren of the world.
