We have a variety of activities this week. All of them focus on respect, appreciation, and a call to action.
First, on Tuesday, September 19th at 9:00am the lead teachers are planning a Fall Nature Collaboration Day. They are planning activities for all the children to enjoy outdoors. As a part of our curriculum, we value the importance of exposing children to the outdoors, getting them comfortable with being outside, and fostering a sense of respect as they grow to appreciate the beauty of nature. Children learn that what we do inside can be done outdoors as well. Over time, children discover that the outdoors can help us build resiliency and to give us peace and enjoyment. The staff and children always look forward to this day.
On Wednesday, September 20th at 6:30pm Sr. Christian Price will lead a training program for parents. The Protecting God's Children program educates participants to identify the signs of child sexual abuse, understand the methods and means by which offenders commit abuse, and be aware of the steps that can be taken to prevent ongoing or future abuse. The Archdiocese's Safe Environment Program requires all adult employees and volunteers, this includes parents, who work with or near minors and/or vulnerable adults to comply with the policy requirements. Click here for instructions to complete these requirements. You can attend the training program at multiple sites, not just at Sacred Heart Villa.
Then Thursday, September 21st at 8:30am, the whole school will attend a gathering in the playroom in honor of Peace Day. The two PreK classes have been hard at work learning songs about seeking peace around the world. The U.N. International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the UN Resolution on the Program of Action on a Culture of Peace. Let us all empower our young students to create Peace Day every day through respect and appreciation of every person!
