On Wednesday, September 6th, Sacred Heart Villa will host a special meeting for our toddler parents to begin a new Christian Parent Initiative program. While the staff of The Villa acknowledges that parents are the first, and foremost teachers of their children, we want to walk alongside the parents in providing a program to assist them in sharing Christian faith and values with their children.
For many months Kris Doder, our Education Director, has been working with a core group to prepare for this year long program which includes Sr. Matthew Maria Rancilio and Sr. Bridget Smith who are both trained in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program and have many years of experience in religious education. A former Villa parent, Elizabeth Patterson, and a current parent, Adriana Kozich, have volunteered to assist with this Christian Parent Initiative. The core group has planned resources and activities that help parents learn, adapt, and embrace time-honored Christian practices to share with their children. This core group has also provided the toddler classroom teachers resources to strengthen their religion lessons. It is our hope that in journeying with our youngest students’ parents, we can point them toward spiritual markers that will help the children find true faith and become respectful, obedient followers of Christ.
