This week of July 10th, we will be encouraging children to enjoy scientific exploration through fun, hands-on and sometimes messy learning. There will be experiences that can get a bit "ooey gooey" like making slime, testing volcanos exploding, creating their own blubber and Oobleck. We will end the week with studying the solar system and creating a model of it. Can you picture the children's faces as they squish slime, see a homemade volcano erupt, feel blubber and Oobleck, and take pride in a model of a plant or solar system they have helped create?
Providing opportunities such as these in early years is beneficial to young learners. By nature, children love to explore and discover since they were infants. Offering opportunities to experiment and make discoveries can foster a lifelong love for science. These science activities help the children develop new vocabulary, and practice skills such as communication, collaboration as a team, reasoning and problem solving. A strong foundation for scientific concepts and scientific thinking will help children gain some understanding of how things work in the world. Offering active, fun, hands-on experiences helps to keep the child engaged.
We are sure you will agree, our summer camp provides wonderful, enjoyable opportunities for our young learners!
