Our youngsters had a splashing great time during their first week of The Villa’s summer camp session. The teachers planned outdoor fun activities. Every class has assigned times to enjoy the water play stations set up in our outdoor classroom space. The children come each morning dressed in their colorful swim attire, so they are ready for water play. Sometimes two teachers band together and walk the classes down to Berra Park to play in the water geyser at the playground area. Sometimes it is hard to get the little ones out of the water. The call to get cleaned up for lunch usually entices them to get moving indoors.
For the rest of the summer, each week will have a theme. June 5-9th is Going Green Week when the children will play and create projects using recycled materials. Teachers will provide opportunities for the class to reuse items that can be utilized for another purpose. The teachers will help the children discover ways recycled materials are used at The Villa. For example, old, discarded car tires have been made into planters on the playground. The rubber mulch on the large playground as well as the Pour and Play soft surfaces has been created from recycled tires. Later in the week, the children will use old T-shirts to make something new. Good times will be shared by all!
