On Friday we celebrated Veteran’s Day by performing patriotic songs for our students’ grandparents, some of them veterans. Our students spent time rehearsing for the show and learning about the meaning of Veteran’s Day. Their practice paid off, as they all performed wonderfully, even our youngest students! A special thank you to our teachers, who practiced with the students on their performances. Also, a thank you to Ms. Elaine Fassi for playing the piano. It was a wonderful patriotic tribute to our veterans and military!
In 1926, Congress passed a resolution that the “recurring anniversary of November 11, 1918 should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations.” We are thankful for those that have served and were so blessed to have some local veterans to celebrate during our school program. Our kindergartners passed out pins and cards to those Veterans in the audience. We pray that peace between all nations will one day come, and we pray for the safety of those that serve today.
And finally, a reminder that we are continuing to accept canned food for those in need until 11/18. You can leave any donations in the boxes by the front entrance when you enter the school. As we enter into the holiday season of Thanksgiving we give thanks for what we are grateful for and strive to help those that are struggling in one way or another.
